This week, the federal government passed a measure that provides a GST/HST holiday on certain products starting December 14, 2024. As such, the federal portion of the sales tax on these products will be eliminated until February 15, 2025.
Sellers do not need to take any action for their eBay customers to benefit from this sales tax holiday.
eBay already collects the required sales tax at checkout and remits it on behalf of sellers. Starting December 14, 2024, the appropriate sales tax will automatically be removed on items eligible for the holiday tax break.
