Canada Post switches to rotating strikes
Summary: seller_news_team shared information saying that Canada Post is starting rotating strikes.
As you probably know, after three weeks of a national strike, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) will begin rotating strikes on Saturday, October 11, 2025. This means that only certain regions of the country will be affected at a time.
Following this change, Canada Post services have been reactivated for eBay labels. All active listings will remain unchanged and buyers will still be able to view and purchase your items as usual.
However, this union action will continue to affect the flow of domestic, inbound, and outbound shipments using Canada Post services and could have an impact on eBay sellers' activities in Canada. In addition, the risk of further work stoppages or escalations remains.
Here are a few tips to help you minimize the impact of these strike actions:
- Other shipping options : FedEx and UPS services remain available through eBay labels, and third-party courier services are available. Local pickup is also a great option.
- Handling time : if you have changed your handling time settings since the strike began, we recommend that you review them. Since we have already extended the approximate delivery times for all Canada Post services, you do not need to do this. In fact, if you extend handling time, the approximate delivery times shown in your listings will also be extended, making them less attractive to potential buyers.
- Communicate proactively with buyers
The following measures remain in place to protect your account:
- Late shipment dissatisfaction
- Valid tracking information upload rate
- Negative or neutral feedback (provided that you uploaded tracking information and that the package was scanned by the carrier before the case was opened)
- Seller-initiated cancellations
Please note that due to high demand, UPS is now applying a $0.75 surcharge for all domestic shipments. This surcharge is reflected in eBay labels and calculated shipping fees.
eBay International Shipping service
The rollout of eBay International Shipping continues in Canada, giving sellers new ways to reach buyers abroad. Since this service uses different carriers to get your items to buyers, it remains available during the Canada Post strike.
As always, thank you for selling on eBay.
